Gnandstein Castle

Like a scene from a picture book, Gnandstein Castle rises from its rocky crag above the Whyra valley. There’s no missing the high keep, imposing walls, gatehouse and tower courtyard, battlements, living quarters, or the stunning palas. The castle’s history stretches back more than 800 years to its foundation by faithful followers of the House of Wettin. There are a variety of themed tours on offer to help you explore the castle’s many rooms and gardens. The atmospheric chapel and rustic medieval palas hall can also be hired for weddings and events.
