Rochlitz Castle

Proud, mysterious and a little gloomy, Rochlitz Castle watches over the city that shares its name. If walls could talk, these would tell tales of more than 1,000 years of history: of emperors, kings and princes, but also of those ordinary people who helped to protect them. A guided tour is the best way to discover this castle’s hidden gems: the imposing cross vaults in the chapel, the open fire kitchen with its giant stove and still-working chimney, the vast towers, which hide dungeons and torture chambers, and of course, the grandly restored royal house.
