Geithain local heritage museum

Geithain local heritage museum is housed in two connected listed buildings in the upper town. The houses date from the 16th and 17th centuries. The local heritage museum is one of Saxony’s most recent museums. Although artefacts have been collected in Geithain since the 19th century, the heritage room did not open its doors until 1986. Following extensive renovation and with the help of Saxony’s state office for museums, Geithain’s local heritage museum finally opened in 1995. With reference to selected periods, today's visitors gain a better understanding of the town’s history.
