Town and cultural history museum, Torgau

Since 2005, the faithfully restored building, which was formerly the electoral chancellery, has housed an exhibition of historically valuable exhibits, inviting visitors to engage in a special way with Torgau’s history and culture.

The following specialist tours are available on request:
 
  • Underground Torgau – a tour of interesting underground systems
  • Luther's wife – a tour of the Katharina Luther Room
  • Was Steine erzählen... (“What stones tell us...”) - Tour of the “stone witnesses” in the lapidarium
  • Torgisch Bier ist armer Leute Malvasier (“Beer from Torgau is the champagne of the poor”) – Tour of Giersing’s brewing heritage
  • The lavish living of a Torgau mayor – Tour of the Ringenhain House
  • Cramped living between crooked walls – Tour of the historic craft workers’ house
  • Rich and poor living at close quarters – Mayor's house and craft workers’ house

Information on accessibility

The front building is accessible via the side entrance; the chancellery and the herb garden are accessed via a step.
The building has a wheelchair-accessible WC.
Tours for people with learning disabilities can be organised on request.
