Jehmlich organ at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Wurzen

The oldest documented predecessor instrument at St. Mary’s can be dated back to 1503. Further instruments of various sizes have been documented. In 1931/32, the Dresden-based company Jehmlich Bros. built a new organ with electro-pneumatic controls and a mobile console in connection with efforts to redesign the interior of the church in a more historically accurate manner. III/44. The open pipe façade is completely in keeping with the new interior design. The Christian Reinhold company from Bernsdorf performed general repairs from 1998–2001/2007. This work included changes and additions to the stop list. Currently, the organ has three manuals, 48 stops and 7 transmissions/extensions.
