Bad Lausick Spa Gardens and Butterfly Stage

These 16-hectare spa gardens were laid out in the English style around 1840. They have an impressive variety of large, mature trees. The majestic rhododendron bushes provide bright splashes of colour in spring, while the roses in the rose garden are particularly stunning in the summer. Numerous benches and the new cherub pergola invite you to while away the time. The autumn colours of the trees are especially magical, and even when covered in snow, the gardens have a charm all their own.

The open-air "butterfly" stage is the centrepiece of the gardens. It was given its name by visitors and Bad Lausick locals because of its unique shape. It was opened in June 1996 to celebrate the town's 900th anniversary, and ever since, has hosted open-air events at the start of the season, e.g. spa concerts. But the concert pavilion is also the venue for large-scale events, such as the annual Brunnenfest (fountain festival), for which the gardens are illuminated with thousands of tiny lanterns.

The pavilion reaches a maximum height of 8 metres and has a surface area of 54 by 65 metres. Two stages can be found under the "butterfly" wings, as well as dressing rooms for performers, a snack bar, storage rooms and toilet facilities for disabled visitors.
