Pegau Volkshaus

Since 2004, the completely refurbished Volkshaus has been used as a community centre for a range of different events. It has become the venue for the Pegau Karnevalsklub’s meetings, and trade fairs, music and large events for children are also held here. Alongside the West Saxony Symphony Orchestra, symphony orchestras and choirs from England, the USA and Japan practise here before performing at the Leipzig Gewandhaus. The 350 seats in the foyer, stalls or on the balcony sell out fast, whether they are for International Women's Day, a drag act or Oktoberfest. Saxony’s leading cabaret acts perform here, including Academixer, Pfeffermühle and Sanftwut etc.
Built in 1553/54, the building was home to the Pegau boys’ school until 1835, and then the girls’ school until 1869. It was then used as a restaurant with the addition of a new hall. The building, which is steeped in tradition, has experienced eventful times, as a trading hall, Deutsches Haus (German culture and heritage centre) and Volkshaus.

The foyer and Great Hall of the Pegau Volkshaus are both fully accessible to disabled people.
For your very own personal event, you can hire the whole building or just the foyer or the Small Hall. There is a professional audio and lighting system for events in the Great Hall.

Great Hall seating for concerts approx. 410 seats
Great Hall seating for dances approx. 364 seats
Small Hall approx. 25 seats
Foyer up to approx. 60 seats
