Lake Cospuden

Situated on the outskirts of Leipzig, Markkleeberg and Zwenkau, Lake Cospuden is fondly known to locals as "Cossi". Its evolution from an open-cast mining site to a thriving recreational haven also mirrors the region's historical development.

Zöbigker harbour has a distinctly Scandinavian flavour; visitors will find a variety of watersports activities and related businesses here, as well as a range of gastronomical options, a sauna facility and bike and boat hire. It is an ideal place to set sail on a leisurely trip across the lake by passenger ship. The sand dune beach on the northern shore, renowned as the longest sandy beach in Saxony, offers a tempting invitation to swim.

Meanwhile, the Bistumshöhe viewing tower provides a captivating view over the Neue Harth forest area and the nearby BELANTIS theme park. Canoeists and kayakers can paddle their way from Leipzig harbour in the heart of the city through Cospuden lock to Lake Cospuden (via water course 1).

Whatever you decide to do, Lake Cospuden offers something for any mood and energy level!
