MS Santa Barbara on Lake Zwenkau

The passenger ship MS Santa Barbara (26.70 m in length and 4.85 m in width) was built at the Oberkassel shipyard in 1957. Previously called the "Walküre", it transported passengers on Lake Plau and Müritz until 2007. On 25 June 2008, the ship was loaded onto a special 32-metre transporter. After two night-time journeys, the ship finally reached Zwenkau on 27 June 2008. It was lifted into Lake Zwenkau by a special crane the very same day. After just two weeks of intensive building activity, the vessel was finally launched on 12 July 2008; it was named the Santa Barbara and its maiden voyage took place on Lake Zwenkau.

It has capacity for up to 100 people on the foredeck, sundeck and quarterdeck, depending on table arrangement. Passengers can savour this unique open-air experience on a 1.5 hour round trip across Lake Zwenkau (from Zwenkau harbour to KAP Zwenkau). The bar, mess, captain's lounge and toilets are located on the newly extended main deck. Its use is not weather-dependent, meaning that it can be used all year round. The main deck can be partitioned in a variety of ways, making it ideal for group events.
