agra Park Markkleeberg

The Agra Park has become synonymous with the town of Markkleeberg. Far beyond the town's borders, the park and the former Agra trade fairs are immediately associated with Markkleeberg.
Come and see an English-style landscape garden, which is attracting steadily increasing numbers of tourists! The historically accurate wrought iron gate in Raschwitzer Strasse transports you back to the past, to see how the entrance would have looked in former times. At the end of the 19th century, the Leipzig Consul and newspaper publisher, Paul Herfurth, acquired the southern portion of the former Raschwitz estate with a view to setting up a country residence there. In 1896/97, he commissioned Raschwitz architect, Gustav Hempel, to design and build a villa overlooking the whole park, similar to the Petit Trianon in Versailles, as the park's crowning glory.

Further parking: in Markkleeberg: Am Festanger, Mönchereistrasse in Leipzig: Im Dölitzer Holz, Helenenstrasse
